About the Author

William Greenwood has been Curator of Metalwork at the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, since April 2011. He studied Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies at Cambridge University, and Art History at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. He has worked in the Indian and Islamic Department at Bonham s auction house in London (2007, 2008), and as Arts Correspondent for the Istanbul-based magazine Cornucopia (2010-2011). Having worked as a curatorial assistant on the previous MIA exhibitions Gifts of the Sultan, Arabick Roots and Ferozkoh, he was the lead curator of Steel and Gold: Historic Swords from the MIA Collection, which was held at MIA in 2013.
