The piece in its original form is a mirror-polished stainless-steel sculpture. Central to the world-renowned artist’s work throughout the decades has been his focus on meshing together everyday objects, pop-culture icons and art-history. These elements often find their expression through his most signature depictions, which come in the form of balloon shapes. In Venus, Koons again uses the balloon concept and joins it with the famous ancient sculpture of Venus of Willendorf.
