This A5 postcard carries a minimalist depiction of Virgil Abloh’s sculpture titled “MANCHESTER, ILLINOIS,” which he produced after studying the history of club culture as a nod to the legendary birthplace of acid house music – the Haçienda nightclub in Manchester, England. Abloh, who is the founder of the Off-White label as well as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton's menswear, will have his upcoming exhibition take place in Qatar, signifying the first time the artist will present in the Middle East. The artist emphasises dialogue in his exhibition by creatively using language and quotation marks, turning objects and people into “Figures of Speech,” as the exhibition is titled. Set in the Garage Gallery at the Fire Station, the mid-career retrospective will showcase Abloh's diverse pioneering media practice that ranges from visual arts to music, fashion, architecture, and design.
