Jean-Léon Gérôme was a French painter and sculptor; his paintings were widely reproduced, and he was coined as the world's most famous living artist by 1880. This artwork is part of the exhibition "Lusail Museum: Tales of a Connected World" in Qatar Museums Gallery, Al Riwaq. The exhibition puts a spotlight on world-class collection of Orientalist art, archaeological artefacts and media from antiquity to the 21st century.
