Mal Lawal 3 Greeting card - Black and Flower Pattern Door

Once common, but today becoming ever rarer to observe, these unique doors often adorned the entrances to old buildings in Qatar. Aisha Fakhroo, the artist that created the original painting depicted on this greeting card, is passionate about documenting the heritage of Qatar’s days gone by. Mal Lawal, Arabic for “from the old days,” is Qatar Museums’ community-led contributions shaped biennale, that draws a connection between the old – the private collections that exist in Qatar – and the new, the original works of art being created by Qatari artists today. While the exhibition promotes the importance of acquiring and developing a personal collection that will benefit future generations, it also offers citizens and residents unique souvenirs reminiscent of the old days.
