The Urania Propitia is a compass with a sundial and is a tribute to the famous Silesian astronomer Maria Cunitz, who was the author of Urania Propitia – a book of astronomical tables. This item aims to celebrate all pioneering women in the field of astronomy. Her work, written in 1650, solved the Kepler problem and placed the ephemeris of the Venus phases. It is seen as one of the earliest surviving major scientific works by a woman.
