A magnet inspired by a spherical huqqa (water pipe), a Museum of Islamic Art collection. Made from white nephrite, the base has been inlaid with a trellis of interlocking foliate cartouches formed by pieces of dark green jade in the shape of leaves, enclosing six-petalled lapiz lazuli flowers. The gemstones have been finely carved with the veins of the leaves and petals. The artefact is from the Mughal period (12 century AH/18th century CE), made from carved jade, lapis lazuli, rubies and gold.
